Redgum Stair Construction

BEFORE

AFTER

When a recent client presented us with a brief to join the upper grassed level of their backyard to the concrete paved lower level, they asked for something that stood out and needed to have a real impact. It became more than regular garden steps.

We discussed the finishes, the style of look and practicality, the safety and use, as well as longevity and maintenance requirements. Cost also was a factor.

The result was constructed from hand picked red gum sleepers, these were dressed and smooth edge routered on site then oiled with an external stain oil. It was designed to use these straight timbers but wanted to create a curved stair look. The black concrete 400 x 400 pavers were scribed and machine cut to suit the various angles created within the steps. The steps are anchored to the foundation by concreted red gum posts dug 600mm into the ground.

In this single shower bathroom, the brief was to remove the existing shower/bath, remove the old vanity and redesign to construct a single shower room with a new toilet suite. Floor tiles, re- plastered walls, rendered ceilings and new wall tiles in the new shower. The vanity required a narrow unit with a nosed basin to allow access to the corner. This particular project also required the brick footings and floor timbers to be rectified.

All Renovations & Restorations projects commence with an initial discussion from which a series of plans, details and specifications are produced. These are submitted to you to be checked. They may be revised if required and are then repriced. See our page on Quotations for information on the options of pricing.
